At our 18th-century urban masseria in Matino, we offer an experiential cooking class designed for those who wish to learn the art of authentic Salento pastry making.
Inside an old family home, amidst original tools and scents of almonds and vanilla, we guide small groups in the artisanal preparation of Lecce pasticciotto and Salento fruttone. Each phase is experienced in a practical way: from working the shortcrust pastry to filling with custard or jam, to baking in our historic ovens. The lessons are aimed at gastronomic tourists, regional cooking enthusiasts and slow travellers.
The workshop includes insights into the history of typical Apulian pastries and the use of selected local ingredients. At the end of the workshop, we taste the products together, sharing an authentic and educational experience. Our cooking class in Matino is an opportunity to experience a fragment of culinary culture handed down through generations, in a unique context off the standard tourist track.
